What we think
We are here to examine the creek. We are monitoring the creek because it is important to our local environment. We monitor the minerals, pH, and temperature of the creek. There are trees, houses, bridges, and roads around this creek. Why is this stream always cloudy? Our hypothesis is that the slag dump nearby affects the creeks condition.
PHWhen we collect the water samples every month, we conduct tests on the samples such as pH. This data could help us figure out what is contributing to the cloudiness. |
TemperatureWhen we also go to the creek every month to analyze it, we take the temperature. This could not help to the cloudiness of the water but could contribute to animal life. |
Mineral TestsWe also take the water samples back into the classroom and test for the types of minerals that could be in the water. These could be Iron, sulfur, and many others. this could also help by identifying the minerals in the water to see if the slag dump is a possibility. |
OUR GOALTo log data from the creek, observe any major changes, and test for minerals. |
Conclusion
We have came to the conclusion that the slag dump nearby the creek is the problem why the water is so cloudy. This could impact the wildlife nearby in a great deal. it could take away the food that is around it and also kill the fish (if any live in the stream)

How we can help
We can contribute to the stream to make the water quality better by not dumping the slag nearby, cleaning the banks of trash, and block off any of the ways the pollution is getting in (other than storm drains)
